A new EU-funded learning programme kicks off on 9 July 2026, offering free training opportunities for professionals and jobseekers in aquaculture and sustainable food systems.

The Horizon Europe project NOVAFOODIES is proud to announce the official launch of its online course, marked by a dedicated launching session taking place on 9th July 2026 from 10:00 to 12:00 CEST, (via Microsoft Teams). Open and free of charge, the event represents a key milestone in the project’s mission to foster skills development and innovation within the Blue Economy.

This initiative will introduce two specialised training courses designed to respond to the evolving needs of the agri-food and aquaculture sectors, supporting both employability and professional upskilling. Participants attending the launching session will have the opportunity to explore the course content in detail, understand how to engage with the learning materials, and interact directly with the teams behind the training development.

The launching event also marks the beginning of a two-month pilot phase, during which participants will be invited to actively test the courses, provide feedback, and contribute to refining the learning experience. This participatory approach reflects NOVAFOODIES’ commitment to co-creation and user-centred innovation.

The training offer includes two complementary courses. The first, “Introduction to Employability and Entrepreneurship in Aquaculture,” is specifically designed for unemployed individuals and aims to equip them with practical skills and knowledge to access opportunities in emerging Blue Economy sectors. The second course, “Innovative Functional Food Production Systems,” provides a broader and more technical perspective, focusing on sustainable value chains and the development of functional foods derived from marine and freshwater resources.

Organisations, professionals, students, and all those interested in the future of sustainable food systems are warmly invited to take part in this initiative and join the growing NOVAFOODIES learning community.
