Funded under Horizon Europe, NOVAFOODIES aims to demonstrate innovative functional food production systems based on sustainable and traceable value chains using marine and freshwater resources. By bringing together expertise from across the food, aquaculture and innovation sectors, the project is working to support the transition towards more sustainable and resilient food systems.

The video highlights several of the project’s core areas of work, including:

• Sustainable cultivation of microalgae and macroalgae;
• Circular approaches for valorising aquatic biomass and side streams;
• Innovative biorefinery and food processing solutions;
• Development of novel food and feed products;
• Enhanced traceability and transparency through digital tools and marketplace solutions.

The video also showcases the collaborative efforts of the international consortium and the shared commitment to improving sustainability across aquatic food value chains.
