Great news for NOVAFOODIES project!

The research group from Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), has just built two new innovative recirculating shelving systems for the cultivation of red and green algae. The algae have just moved in!

The researchers from Germany produce and optimize macroalgae and to achieve more productivity, they design and build cultivation systems. The algae that are grown here will be used to produce sustainable and bio-degradable packaging for “to go” and convenience food.

The #AWI conducts research at the poles and in the oceans of the cold and temperate regions of the world.
